Cabi.Chat Analytics — Track your own website
Your project lives on Cabi.Chat, your website may live elsewhere. Put the Cabi.Chat tag on it, and the site's visits join the project's visits, UTM tags included.
1. Add the website to the project
Set the project's Website contact. The project's performance view in the Cabinet (Show performance) then shows the block Your website with the domain, marked "not verified".
2. Verify the domain
Prove the domain is yours, one of three ways. The block gives you a token, ready to copy; it is tied to your account and this domain, and does not change.
- Meta tag: add
<meta name="cabi-verify" content="<token>" />to the head of your home page. - DNS record: add a TXT record
cabi-verify=<token>to the domain. - HTML file: publish
https://<your-domain>/cabi-verify-<token>.html, its content is the token.
Press Verify. "Not found yet" means wait a few minutes, a DNS record takes time, and try again. https://www.example.com/about and example.com are the same domain for Cabi.Chat.
3. Add the tag to every page
<script async src="https://cabi.chat/cabi.js" data-project="<project nonce>"></script>
The block shows it with your project already filled in. With the first visit it reads Snippet active, last visit … ago, and the code hides behind "show code".
Consent
The tag keeps a pseudonymous visitor id, a random id, in the browser's local storage, under its own prefix so it never collides with your site's data. It sets no cookies, but privacy laws such as the EU ePrivacy rules treat local storage like cookies: if your site asks visitors for consent, include Cabi.Chat Analytics in it.
Good to know
- Visits count only from a domain you verified. The same tag copied to someone else's site counts nothing.
